So…. This year I reach fifty [fooking] five and I’ve decided to launch my new website fookfifty.com!
This is a place where we are going to explode the myths of ageing – maturity, menopause and mediocrity – and sharer secrets of living a life of renewed joy, purpose and infinite potential at any age.
I was inspired to start this revolutionary movement the night my beautiful daughter celebrated her 16th birthday. As I was witnessing my child evolving into a young lady with her whole life of opportunity ahead of her, I cried myself to sleep believing that I at 53 then, was on the proverbial scrap heap. I felt that I was the prime candidate for the leading role in the play of life entitled The Menopausal Dwarfs ….frumpy, lumpy and grumpy!!!! .
In the intervening two years I’ve spent many thousands of hours reading, learning and working on my self belief, self confidence and self worth so that I can embrace this time of my life, create new opportunities and enter my third age or second spring with enthusiasm, energy and exuberance. When Michele Obama, during a recent political election campaign uttered those words ‘When they go low, we go high’ – I thought that this was the perfect vision statement for FookFifty – as ageing suggests that various body parts may be heading south..i.e going low, and that perhaps this is the perfect time to take the mind high and work on an expansive mindset about this new phase of my life.
My focus is to show women how to revolutionise their mindset about their age whether its forties, fifties or sixties, just like I have.In my forties I changed my martial status, my home environment and my career and boy was it scary. The last 10 years have been a roller coaster of fears, doubts, insecurities and a crisis of self belief and now in my mid fifties I wish to embrace change again and am passionate about teaching you the only 3 secrets you need to find your voice, live without fear, and create a life you love.
In my coaching business I have met so many women who are craving for self love and self care, yearning for the feeling of ‘I Am enough’ – yet are embarrassed or feel guilty about working on their self esteem. My vision of a perfect life, of a successful life is to wake up every morning feeling at peace with who I am, however quirky that may be and to feel that I am enough and that the world is there for me to explore new possibilities and potential. We can define our own rules and do not have to live by stereotypical visions of what we should be. When you put 50+ into a search engine you get words like elderly, retirement, and knitting! Well I’m feeling anything but elderly, have no intentions of retiring and learned how to knit when I was a child.
Come and join me on this journey of self discovery where I will show you how to go from frumpy, lumpy and grumpy to a life of vitality, vivaciousness and joie de vivre!
